Tarot and chakras are surprisingly connected, just like everything else in our Divine world. There are seven large chakras in our bodies. These seven different chakras are connected to the large and small Arcana cards from the Tarot cards (the game with the cards full of symbolism). Which seven chakras are there and with which tarot cards are these seven different chakras connected?

There are seven main chakras in our bodies;

Tarot

The tarot consists of 22 archetypes (the major Arcana) and 56 cards that provide information about how you do (or don’t do) something (the minor Arcana). The small Arcana is subdivided into four sets of 14 cards;

  • Wands
  • Pentacles
  • Swords
  • Cups

Within each series can be found;

  • An ace
  • Cards 1 to 10
  • A squire
  • A knight

Awareness of any blockages in the chakras can be achieved by, among other things, pulling and reading/interpreting the Tarot cards. Each card of the Tarot is connected to one of the seven main chakras. By giving extra attention to this connectedness, it can become clear in which chakra there is a blockage for which it is apparently now is the time to get started.

Chakras and the tarot cards of the great arcana

This paragraph is based on the Tarot classification such as that of Rider-Waite.

    The 7th chakra (crown chakra) is about wisdom, spiritual insight, thinking and knowing. This chakra is connected to the 1st card from the great Arcana of the Tarot, the magician.

    The 6th chakra (forehead chakra) is about intuition, clairvoyance, and imagination. This chakra is connected to the 2nd (the high priestess), the 3rd (the empress), the 11th (justice), the 12th (the hanged), the 20th (the judgment) and the 21st (the world) card from the Tarot.

    The 5th chakra (throat chakra) is about communication in the broadest sense of the word (so both in thought, word and writing). This chakra is connected to the 4th (the emperor), the 5th (the high priest), the 13th (death) and the 14th (moderation) card from the Tarot.

    The 4th chakra (heart chakra) is about love, relationships, compassion, and healing. This chakra is connected to the 6th (the lovers) and the 15th (the devil) card from the great Arcana of the Tarot.

    The 3rd chakra (solar plexus chakra) is about willpower, own identity, self-worth, and autonomy. This chakra is connected to the 7th (the blessing car), the 8th (power), the 16th (the tower) and the 17th (the star) card of the Tarot.

    The 2nd chakra (sacral chakra) is about male and female energy, pleasure, sexuality and emotions. This chakra is connected to the 9th (the hermit) and the 18th (the moon) card of the Tarot.

    The 1st chakra is about survival, roots, and grounds. This chakra is connected to the 10th (wheel of fortune) and the 19th (the sun) card of the great arcana of the Tarot.

Chakras and the tarot cards of the little Arcana

  • The squire is connected to the 6th and 7th chakra.
  • The knight is connected to the 4th and 5th chakra.
  • The queen is connected to the 2nd and 3rd chakra.
  • The king is connected to the 1st chakra.

The following applies to the cups, pentacles, wands, and swords;

  • The 1st card is connected to the 7th chakra.
  • The 2nd and 3rd cards are connected to the 6th chakra.
  • The 4th and 5th cards are connected to the 5th chakra.
  • The 6th card is connected to the 4th chakra.
  • The 7th and 8th cards are connected to the 3rd chakra.
  • The 9th card is connected to the 2nd chakra.
  • The 10th card is connected to the 1st chakra.

As you can see, there is a very clear line we can draw between the Tarot and chakras in our human physical body. This is not a new idea, the study of chakras dates thausands of years back to the Hindu tradition and the Tarot Cards originated from Egypt also about 5000 years ago.
