Wendy’s

Wendy’s has never really been one to come out with interesting or engaging commercials (or at least that’s the way it’s been ever since I found out that mlb extra innings cost little). However, here recently I’ve been seeing some pretty funny commercials that Wendy’s has been putting out. One of them is just too funny not to talk about.

The commercial starts out by panning across a forest full of people standing around kicking trees slowly. Of course, I was sitting there watching it a little confused as to what the purpose of the kicking was. However, that turned out being the point. After a few seconds of panning across the forest, the camera cuts to one man kicking a tree wearing a red wig that resembles the pig tails of the girl in the Wendy’s logo. He suddenly stops kicking the tree, and says, “Wait a minute.” He begins to turn and look around and epiphany-like music cues. He goes onto say, “This all feels wrong.” He explains that just because everybody else is “doing it,” doesn’t mean that he has to.

He then starts to ask himself why a hamburger is made from frozen beef. He then yells out to the people that are still kicking, “I deserve a hot, juicy burger.” Some people begin to turn and notice him, and he yells again, “That’s right! I deserve a hot, juicy burger!” People begin agreeing with them, and they all begin chanting “HOT, JUICY, BURGER!” and walking together out of the forest. It’s certainly a hilarious commercial, and I’m happy Wendy’s is now producing funny advertisements.
