Office Partitions in a Home Office

Many people are choosing to work from home these days. As companies look for ways to save money, allowing employees to work from home makes a lot of sense. It means smaller offices and lower utility bills for the company. For the employee, it means less money spent on transportation and wardrobe. However, working from home isn’t as easy as just sitting on your sofa with your laptop and phone nearby. You are going to need a quiet space that you can work from, and if there is a chance clients or co-workers could stop by, it needs to look professional.

People who work from home who have larger houses will often convert a spare bedroom into a home office. This is an ideal situation but not one that will work for everyone. If you live in a small house or apartment or your family is big, you might not have a spare room. The good news is that you can easily convert part of a living space into a home office by using an office partition.

A large living room is the perfect place to make a home office. Choose a part of the room that gets little traffic, ideally in a corner. The space only needs to be slightly larger than your desk. Then surround the space with a divider. While any type of divider will do, the office variety will lend a professional feel to the area and also help you to mentally get yourself into working mode.

Sofa Beds Are Fun, Functional, and Here to Stay

Sofa beds come in many different shapes and sizes. They even sport lots of interesting designs, features and fabrics. If you have been looking at them for awhile then you have probably been impressed with the various styles, upholstery, leathers, and configurations that these amazing pieces of furniture are offered in. It is easy to stay in style with any one of a number of these. They are comfortable, they welcome your guests in style, and will last your family for years and years of use.

What first struck me about sofa beds, when I became aware of them, was the variety of coverings. Probably one of the most popular, and certainly one of the most durable, are the leather ones. These have that classic look that seems to stay in style no matter how much time goes by. And, they look great in just about any room. They are easy to decorate around and are easy to keep clean and nice. On the more comfortable-to-the-touch side of things, it could be argued that the micro fiber coverings are the way to go. Micro fiber certainly is soft to the touch and is beautiful. Or, if you like patterns, there are many great upholstery options with flowers, stripes, geometric designs, or anything else you could wish for.

Sofa beds go way beyond the old hide-a-beds of days gone by. Gone are the uncomfortable toss-and-turn nights, awful scratchy lame fabrics, and the ridiculously heavy couches that made you cuss like a preacher’s son. Now your guests can look forward to a comfortable nights rest when they come to visit. You and your family can enjoy using the sofa for everyday use, and when the time comes to move it you don’t have to hire a crane.

Free Carpet Estimates – Is it Really Free?

Almost every carpet outlet and carpet installation contractor will offer a free estimate for removing and replacing carpets as a promotional tool. Once the invoice is generated and the job is signed the breakdown of all costs does not include a line item cost for the estimate. So it would appear the customer received the bargain as advertised in the form of a free estimate.

However any business that employs and estimator or otherwise provides an estimating service will incur costs such as travel time, fuel and of course the administration of the formal estimate. Add to this the fact that businesses must realize a profit in order to remain in business and one would be prompted to question whether such an estimate is actually possible at no cost.

The answer is certainly no. There may not be a line item entry for an estimate however the costs associated with it are certainly covered by some means. Add to this the reality that not every potential customer that receives and estimate signs a work order agreement and it would be foolish to think any visit by an estimator is free. The customer is going to assume some portion of the estimating cost whether agreed on openly or not.

The only practical way to determine how much one is contributing to the estimating process is by shopping the individual services and materials separately. The costs of carpeting can vary from one locale to the next and it’s possible a contractor makes materials purchases by employing cost comparisons. This would certainly be a prudent business practice. In addition the cost of labor and a portion of equipment depreciation must be accounted for to some degree in a customer’s invoice.

What is Feng Shui and Five Element Theory

Today, there are many definitions of Feng Shui. Feng Shui can be translated into English as Wind Water. Some people see it as the energy around our living environment while others see it as superstition. Feng Shui is considered both an art and a science. It is also metaphysics and it has been practiced for thousands of years in China. Feng Shui originated about 2000 years ago when an emperor was in search of a burial ground. Many in the past believed that if your ancestors are properly buried, you will be protected by them; this continues to be a common practice in Asia.

Feng Shui is based on the principles of Yin and Yang and the Five Phases/Elements Theory. It is the practice of creating a happy living environment (harmony) within your home, workspace and inner self. An understanding of the principles of Yin and Yang and the Five Phases is essential in applying Traditional Feng Shui methods. In addition, a person’s destiny can be enhanced if there is a correct alignment of the environment’s Chi to that of the human Chi of the individual.

Some people consider Feng Shui as superstition and this is probably a result of the figures and gods that people use to decorate their houses with. An experienced practitioner will be able to identify immediately what is superstition and what is reality. The figures and gods can be effective as long as one keeps in mind that it is the type of element contained in the statues and ornaments that matters most. Reorganizing furniture, using magic coins, and placing a few statues in the house is not enough to change the energy in your home and the way you live.
